The buzz created by the million SEO Contests over the year partly died off. But a new SEO Contest has risen to start an annual competition for Search Engine Optimization.
This is the SEO World Championship and they seem intent on getting attention. The official contest keyword announcement date is January 15, 2007. They are offering upto 5 (or 6) prizes for the winners, but the top 3 prizes really take my breath away:
- Citroen C2
- A Caribbean Cruise
- A Plasma TV
- $500
- $100
Their contest rules ask for:
If you view their contest page, you can submit your E-Mail Address to receive an E-Mail notification of the keywords when they’re announced!
The unique part about the contest is how they choose the winners based on a ranking system:
On May 1st, 2007 we will make a search for “the keyword” on Google.com, MSN.com and Yahoo.com and combine the scores and subsequently determine a winner. The score is calculated by giving points to position 1 - 10 in each search engine. You will receive 10 points for a number one spot, and 1 point for a number 10 spot.
For example:
Your website: www.yourdomain.com
Rank in Google: 7 = 4 points Rank in MSN: 10 = 1 point Rank in Yahoo: 2 = 9 points Total points for www.yourdomain.com = 14 points
I most likely won’t be competing, since the other SEO Contests have tired me out, but I would probably check it out when the keywords are announced to see who will be competing! The SEO Contest seems to be run or sponsored by EastPoint, a marketing company.
