YouTube Subpoenaed by FOX over 24

I thought this was amusing when I read about it. Everyone knows of the action packed show - Twenty-Four (better known as 24) on FOX. Well last week or so was their premeire for their 6th Season (and it was a great one!), but someone uploaded the first four season premiere episodes of 24 on YouTube before the show was aired on TV!

Now that Google owns YouTube, they had to face with the issue. The episodes were uploaded by a user with the username “ECOTotal”. He also uploaded 12 episodes of the Simpsons as well. The episodes were also uploaded to LiveDigital as well, except it used a different username - “Jorge Romero”. Both websites were faced with a subpoena and the episodes were removed from both video sharing websites. I heard that Google settled this out of court.

Piracy is turning to be a big issue for media/entertainment companies. FOX was faced with a similar problem in the past where an episode of Family Guy was released on the net before it was aired on TV.
