Patented Google Voice Search w/ Google Algorithm

Google Voice SearchWell Google just keeps on going. They have finally created something which is not used by any other Search Engine and cannot be used by any other Search Engine due to the patent which they recieved earlier today. This idea is unique, original and saves time for many Google users who use their Search Engine. This is the Google Voice Search!

Now this is a most unique dilemma, mainly because other search engines like Yahoo! and MSN are not able to offer the same service as well. Their patent can be viewed here in the USPTO Patent Full Text and Image Database. It was filed in February 7, 2001 and was granted their patent earlier today, April 11, 2006. The description of their voice search has an accurate description there as well.

Here is the description of the Voice Search program:

A system provides search results from a voice search query. The system receives a voice search query from a user, derives one or more recognition hypotheses, each being associated with a weight, from the voice search query, and constructs a weighted boolean query using the recognition hypotheses. The system then provides the weighted boolean query to a search system and provides the results of the search system to a user.

In simple words, they will input search queries given by your voice and give an output of search results using their search engine.

Google has not publicly released any news about their Voice Search at the moment, but nearly 4 years ago, Google’s Alex Franz and Brian Milch did release a publication discussing their Voice Search.

Now most people will immediately think that Voice Recognition software of this century is not fully developed and their are common problems. However, Google is actually creating their own set of algorithms and plan to bypass all other voice recognition software. Google plans to use the weight reconstruction of the inputed user’s voice. They also plan to have as little interaction with the user as possible.
