A few people might have thought about this over time, but probably decided not to battle with Google on it’s trademark laws. Well somebody has now registered GoogleCheckout.com on GoDaddy (Site is parked on GoDaddy) and is claiming that his website is not “Google Checkout” but instead is “Go Ogle Checkout”!

Here is a quote from the case:

Specifically, Respondent states that her intended business name is not “GOOGLE Checkout,” which ostensibly is identical to the disputed domain name , but rather the term “Go Ogle Checkout,” which Respondent contends is not. She intends to use this term in conjunction with an online dating service.

and:

As to the other disputed domain names, and as best understood by the Panel, Respondent intends to use and , also in conjunction with her dating service, as the terms “Go Ogle Matching” and “Go Ogle Outdoors,” respectively, where the word “ogle” commonly means “to glance amorously.”

It does seem like a case which is one of the very few standing up to Google (other than the Ranking Case or the AdWords Case). There is no way to know if the user is trying to find a way around Google or was genuinely trying to create a checkout named “Go Ogle Checkout”.

I personally think he was trying to get past Google’s Trademark laws.
