Google seems like it isn’t interested in simply making money from advertisement revenue, but now it looks like they are offering searches over a toll-free phone number. You can call them at 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411) for no charge.
The whole service is automated, but they are still working out the kinks with recognizing different search requests. The service is meant to find local businesses in your area, they even connect you with the business via phone.
Furthermore, you can ask the information sent to you via text message simply by saying “text message” when you call their service. You can view their announcement here, it is available 24/7 and is only available in English inside the U.S.
