Garett Rogers put up a post which hints that Google might offer a Google Archive Search based on the following domain names they registered on September 1st:
- archivesearchgoogle.com
- archivesssearchgoogle.com
- google-archive-search.com
- google-archive.com
- google-archives-search.com
- google-archives.com
- google-archivesearch.com
- google-archivessearch.com
Now this hints on a few speculations which Search Engine Journal and Google Blogoscoped came up with as well. Garett, Philipp and Loren Baker both seem to believe that it will be a similar or a more professional (maybe paid) version of Archive.org’s WayBackMachine.
Another possibility is that they will archive a ton of historical references and let you search through the history of not just the web, but the world.
We won’t know until they release the program, probably on google-archives.com or google-archive.com domains.
