Nicole Wong seems to be serious about the promises she made two months ago to keep child pornography off of the internet in order to make Google safe for families:
- Zero tolerane policy against child pornography
- Working with federal authorities to report users advertising child porn
- Family safe browsing using SafeSearch
A recent NCMEC release shows that they are serious about taking their stand against child pornography on the internet.
However, this does raise a few questions. Google has verified that they will report all users submit advertisements related to child pornography and remove ads related to the topic.
But what if Google indexes pages containing search results related to child pornography and considers it to be child porn, especially if they see another video on the same page (or other variables for the site to be flagged)? Will they report it to the federal authorities?
In addition to that, when someone searches for related queries, will Google flag IP’s and report those? So this asks the question, are you handing too much information to Google?
