Google Infringes on Belgium Copyright Laws

Seems to be all the rage on Google blogs, Google has been sued by Belgium government for copyright infringement! Which service are they in trouble for? Their Google News apparently is providing Belgian headlines, stories and links. Since they have no authorization from the owner of the content, they are not allowed to use it.

Now people will agree that Google News is basically just an informant and since they are sending traffic to the original content owner in the links for every article, it is kind of like an unspeaken agreement between both parties.

Belgium obviously didn’t think this way and don’t want anyone to use their content, even if it’ll benefit them.

Google has confirmed that the court ruled in Belgium’s favor and all links to Belgium articles have been removed from Google News.
