Google Base 2

Seems that Google is testing a new layout for Google Base. This was caught by Garett Rogers, who thinks it’s a replacement for Froogle!

He found this by checking the Google Robots.txt and findingĀ /base/s2 in the list.

The new Google Base Layout offers a ton of powerful features and options, literally. You can now search with tons of different variables as well as results displayed as:

  • List View
  • Grid View
  • Map View

It’s not a big difference that everyone would go crazy over, but it is decent. The only thing I don’t like is the huge number of options which are displayed near the top. Other than that I have no problem with it!

I just wonder if they’re going to start promoting Google Base heavily or have it try and grow organically and by word-of-mouth.
