.edu and .gov Links Don’t Get Google Recognition

EducauseWell this definitely proved John Scott’s point, .edu and .gov links have finally been proven that they DO NOT get special recognition. Until now, it has been a big confusion, but now we have support from one person who you can trust!

Matt Cutts himself has stated that .edu and .gov websites do not recieve a boost in the Google SERP’s (Search Engine Results Page) as well as the fact that links from .edu and .gov websites do not recieve a boost as well! He has stated this fact in his latest video on Google Analytics - Lightning Round (which was posted on Modern SEO here). It is mostly a coincidence because .edu and .gov domain names usually have a higher Page Rank due to links, but not because of Google intervention.
