We are starting to optimize our website more efficiently and better. First of all, we are taking advantage of a new program that is still in it’s Beta Phase, released by Google. The name of it is “Google Sitemaps”. Many of you webmasters may have an XML Sitemap on your website, but you are all pretty sure that nobody uses it.

Well Google has found a use for those sitemaps. You will need a Google Account, which you can register for free from the Google Accounts page. This does not require a Gmail account. Then you need to register a free Google Account and visit Google’s Sitemap Section for Webmasters.

Afterwards, submit your sitemap and Google will index your sitemap and the links. In return, they will provide you with statistics on what the ranks are of your pages (high, medium, low or no pagerank) and such.

Redscowl Bluesingsky.us has decided to use this program and it seems to be working with ease. We have noticed that the GoogleBot has visited our website much more often and we have recently started using a script which will update our sitemap AND ping Google (which is quite a unique add-on) whenever a post on our website is added, edited or deleted! We have added a link to our Links Section with the Redscowl Bluesingsky.us Sitemap.
