Chapter 1.2: Overview of Links

Ok, as we said in our previous section, Search Engines base the rank of the quality and quantity of links pointing to your website. This section is going to explain an overview of what exactly good quality links are and how they help your rank on Search Engines.

First of all, links are in a way, clickable text, which, when clicked on, will take you to another webpage on the domain or another website. Links which take you to a webpage inside the same domain name are Inbound Links while links which take you to webpages on a different website are Outbound Links.

If you want Google to give your website a higher rank, Outbound Links are the types you want. If you want Google to crawl through different pages of your website, Inbound Links are the way to go, since Google will follow these links and when they are taken to a webpage not yet indexed in their directory, they will index it!

To make sure that a link is visible to a search engine, on your browser, click on View -> Page Source. Search for the link in the HTML Code, if it is present, then you have nothing to worry about. Links are not followed by Google and other Search Engines if these links are JavaScript or Flash.
