Starting a Viral Marketing Campaign

Viral MarketingAs you’re probably aware, I’ve recently started The Music Challenge. And to promote it, I’ve gone for the only method that works fast: Viral Marketing.

So how am I going about it, and how would you do it? Well, for starters, I’ve talked about it on here (shameless plug), but actually, where I’ve gotten most of my interest is from forums that I’m well known on!

To promote anything fast, you need to reach a huge number of people who’ll be interested in it, and get them to tell others. Forums are a great way to do this. For starters, people are there because they’re looking for the kind of information you want to give them, so that’s half the battle gone right there.

I also have a great belief in chat room promotion. Go to chat rooms where there are people interested in what you’re doing. In the case of TMC, I’ve been on many chat rooms, advertising what I’m doing, getting people to take a look. But don’t spam since that will obviously get you banned from the chat room! But the single best way is to give people something that they can give to others. Take the example of the book “The Whole Truth”, which was made by Steven Pierce on the subject of SEO. This went round the SEO community like wildfire. Why? Because it was something a bit different with “WOW” factor.

As long as you’ve got something good worth noticing, or what you do that grabs attention, people will talk about it. So come back tomorrow, when I’ll be talking about how to identify things that will make people sit up and take notice of you.
