Well it has been a while since MySpace has done something new in order to get a bigger user base. Now that they’ve launched MySpace News (BETA), I’m sure that they’ll attract all the social media experts out to game MySpace News.
MySpace News is very similar to Shoutwire/Digg in the sense that it allows users to vote for stories they find interesting. However, Digg has a page where users are allowed to comment on the story and share their insight. MySpace News simply opens up an iFrame with the information placed in the top iFrame and the content in the bottom iFrame.
However, I think this would be great for advertisers, since it would result in more impressions, perfect for CPM-based websites. Also, since MySpace is targetted toward a younger group, they might be more prone to clicking on advertisements on your site when compared to Digg users. The best thing is that it offers a wide variety of categories and a list of news related to cities near you.
I’ll be trying to game MySpace soon, to promote some of my arcades and such.
