So, you’re here because (presumably) because you’re an online marketing person.  You know all about SEO, about Link Building and all the other normal methods.  But what are the other methods people don’t use, that you can cash in on while no-one has any clue? Well, I’m going to be covering a few of these over the next 5 days, starting today.

So, what’s the first method we’re going to be looking at? WinAmp!

For those of you who don’t know, WinAmp was one of the first, and best (and in my opinion still is the best) downloadable media players. But what set it apart was it’s editability.  All it’s components were skinable, and easy to skin too. So whereas WMP (Windows Media Player) was slow and clunky, and had a lousy interface, here was a new, small media player, that did everything you wanted it to.

Since its initial inception several years back, WinAmp skinning has become huge. The top downloaded skins have millions of users, and grow by the minute, every single day. Sounds like a great way to promote your products or websitein my opinion.

So how can you use this as a marketing tool? Simple. Have an official WinAmp skin made for your company. Almost any graphics design company will be able to come up with something slick and professional. Then, all you have to do is put it up on your website to download, and also post it on WinAmp’s site. Then promote it, by giving it away free to all new subscribers, or new customers. Use it as a bonus if you want.
