Today, I’m going to make a lot of people upset. Why? Because I’m going to shatter something that you’re probably quite happily deluded by saying:
There is NO such thing as financial independence
Now that might sound strange, but it’s true. There are a lot of half-truths in business. I say this because your financial independence is based on other people. To understand this, we need to look at how money is made.
Put simply, making money is just a simple equation. I give you some form of goods, service, or information, and you give me money. As such, you can see that for you to make money, and become financially independent, you’re going to depend on others.
The next half truth is:
It’s not what you know, it’s who you know
Again this isn’t entirely true. It’s not who you know, it’s who knows you. I’m shortly going to be running an experiment called The Music Challenge. For it, I’ve drafted in the help of two friends. I could have picked anyone from a lot of people, but I picked the two whom I trust most, and who’s skills I know to be excellent. Make sure that you are the person people think of when they need someone who can do what you do.
The last half-truth is this:
It takes money to make money
Yes, it does. But it misses out a bit, here is MY revised version:
It takes money to make money, but it doesn’t have to be YOUR money
Look around for investors and business partners. Look for people who has enough money to help fund your business as well as those who give you money as a grant, such as the Government and Princes Trust. There are some very simple ways to raise money. See my previous two posts for more of an idea on how to do this.
Check back tomorrow, where I’m going to start our study on PPC (Pay-Per-Click advertising)
