A couple of private online newspapers are reporting that Google is planning to enter the video game advertising industry. This is seen by Google’s attempt at trying to acquire AdScape Media.
It would definitely be a step forward, since these advertisements would be permanently embedded into a video game. Video Game advertisements would definitely be a powerful way to reach a wide audience of gamers. When you’re simply driving a car around in Need for Speed and all of a sudden you crash into BestBuy!
Google seems to be working on a ton of new offline advertising methods like:
- Radio Advertisements
- Magazine Advertisements
- Newspaper Advertisements
- TV Commercial Advertisements (rumor)
- and maybe Google Kiosks?
I bet Google is definitely going to be successful when compared to Yahoo! or Microsoft’s MSN when it comes to advertising.
Microsoft is already a player in the video game advertising market, from my understanding, since they have easy access to video game developers who are creating games for the XBOX 360.
