I decided to take a crack at Yahoo’s Overture PPC program today and stumbled across this page that talks about paid inclusion in Yahoo!’s Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). Now this doesn’t seem like bribery at first, but…

Yahoo! Search Marketing or Search Bribery?
Let me start by saying these rumors are most likely fake. Blogs like Search Engine Journal take the fact that just because the stock price rose by nearly 19% for Yahoo!, it dropped earlier this morning.

MyBlogLog has been catching the attention of bloggers throughout the blogosphere at an alarming rate. More and more bloggers have added the famous MyBlogLog widget to their sidebar to display the latest visitors to their blog. There have been a lot of rumors flying around that MyBlogLog might be acquired by Yahoo! and it turns out to be true!
While browsing for a way to unfreeze my frozen iPod on Yahoo!, I went through some decent search results, but when I reached the bottom of the page, the following image caught my eye:

Yahoo! launched their very own Yahoo! Search Marketing Blog. There doesn’t seem to be much activity at the moment, but considering their other recently released blog, Yahoo! Search Blog, I don’t think this would be a lot different. It would simply have a different layout, but most likely cover the same topic. However, I don’t think the Yahoo! Google Controls English - Yahoo!’s Opening
Well Jake (a reader of Google BlogoScoped), had a simple idea of checking the W3C Markup Validation of the top Search Engines out there:
- MSN – Passed!
- Altavista – Failed, 38 errors
- Yahoo – Failed, 41 errors
- Google – Failed, 61 errors
- Ask.com – Failed, 64 errors
- Dogpile – Failed, 70 errors
It was a unique idea in it’s own sort of way, which shows which Search Engines (no matter how big they are) follow simple W3C Validation.
There are tons of websites which offer free desktop wallpapers and usually require you to download a program with a virus. The experienced web users can pick this out in a second, but Google obviously can’t! That’s why Scandoo (owned by ScanSafe) comes out and identifies it for you!
