The Shoemoney Effect

Andy Beal has been putting up polls on his blog and one of his recent polls was to find out who was the “Queen of Search” on the net. There was an odd twist caused by Shoemoney which is hilarious in a way!

The options to Andy Beal’s poll were:

  • Vanessa Fox
  • Marissa Mayer
  • Jill Whalen
  • Kim Krause Berg
  • Elisabeth Osmeloski
  • Heather Lloyd Martin
  • Jennifer Laycock
  • Christine Churchill
  • Dana Todd
  • Shari Thurow
  • Barbara Coll
  • Jennifer Slegg
  • Others

Now Shoemoney being a good friend of Jennifer Slegg (better known as JenSense), asked his readers to go vote for Jen.

I voted for Jen because I’ve read her blog every now and then and I like it (even though I’m banned from AdSense). Shoemoney simply informed me that she was in the poll.

Surely enough, Jennifer rose to the top with 51% of the votes, when she only had 2% before Shoemoney’s blog post. Now this makes you wonder. Did the readers go to the poll and vote for Jen because they knew her and were informed of the poll through Shoemoney? Or did they simply do Shoemoney’s bidding without thinking?

P.S. I just noticed that ShoeMoney’s got a TM sign in his title now and he’s added the word “Shoelicious” to his homepage title as well…Odd…

We did just officially get the trademark on “shoemoney” (blog post soon on the process of that. The shoelicious thing is just a play on a song right now. I thought it was funny

Heh that’s cool with the trademark and all. I never heard a song mentioning “shoelicious”, but I don’t listen to a ton of songs nowadays..
