Modern SEO News has been running for nearly a year and I’ve been blogging just for the fun of it. When I first started, I had no idea what Search Engine Optimization was, or what it could accomplish. I just entered to participate in the Redscowl Bluesingsky SEO Contest.

Ever since I started blogging, I’ve been doing it just for the fun of it. I always found enjoyment in building up new content, getting indexed by search engines and earning new readers to my blog.

I’ve been trying to sell advertisements on Modern SEO News for a while and not many people wanted to take the advertisement spots. Yesterday, I decided to take another shot at it by changing the WordPress Layout to be a bit wider. Then I setup a square sidebar on the homepage and created 4 buttons to be offered as advertising spots. As well as an advertising page with various different advertising options like Performancing, TextLinkAds, ReviewME, FeedVertising, 125×125 Homepage Buttons and 120×60 Sitewide Header Buttons.

Yesterday I went on my favorite forums and put up a thread offering the button advertisement spots for a mere $10.00/month and I included that the website was a PR4 (as well as the traffic details) and sold all the spots in less than 18 hours!

Now due to the fact that I have pagerank and decent traffic from updating the blog with new posts, I was able to sell my first advertising spots to some great people.
